I remember getting stopped on a random police check, shortly after having one whisky, although it was a house measure. I never even thought it would be a problem until the policeman said his colleague would breathalyse me. I was certain I was ok, but the wait while it was checked??? It came back ok, I wasn't told what if anything had registered, but after that, I never went near alcohol if I was going out. I wouldn't be surprised if drink driving is as bad as it ever has been, as you rarely see the police these days; well that is until you don't want to then they seem to be everywhere.

What a vile human being.

140 miles per hour, dui, and on his phone; that's three of the biggest dangers on the road right there; and calling it it 'a mistake' whan an insult... This is not something you do by accident. He is not only a bad person (contrary to his claim), he is vile.

It's a terrifying thought, that there's people that are willing ro drive and on the roads in that state.

It wasn’t a bad choice to be on his phone. It was an arrogant careless choice and took the death of three and a dog to show how stupid it is. And there will be plenty of people that will not learn from this even after watching this video. And then there’s the police and other emergency services that are confronted by what has happened that we all forget about. So many victims in this one selfish act.

So sad but it’s really great that the police helped so much.

I always ask myself “could I justify my actions in a court of law?”. Keeps me on the straight and narrow.

He got off very lightly, hopefully this will change him for the better, so his whole life isn't a waste. But, he will likely revert to type.

That's a hard watch. Unimaginable to have to deal with losing loved ones like that. The driver has to take the penalty, but you can see how easily a, probably, decent chap loses everything because of stupidity.

This could easily be stopped by fitting alcohol air detector combined with the seat weight sensors. Only 1 seat occupied and alcohol detected should equal automatic police notification. It's a very cheap device.

Horrible story, also the lying of suspects is hard to bear oftentimes i find. German justice in this case: 2 years on probation because first offence and he probably had a hard youth; 3 month drivers license suspension. At least you guys seem to have reasonable judges…
